About Flag Pixel
A daily flag guessing challenge
What is Flag Pixel?
Flag Pixel is a daily geography game where you test your knowledge of world flags. Inspired by word puzzle games like Wordle, Flag Pixel challenges you to identify country flags through pixel-based comparisons and strategic guessing. Everyone gets the same flag in the daily challenge.
All flags have been standardized to a consistent 10-color palette, creating a unique puzzle that combines pattern recognition, geography knowledge, and strategic thinking.
How to Play
You'll see a pixelated flag displayed as a 240×160 pixel image. Type your guess using the autocomplete input field and submit to see how close you are.
When you make an incorrect guess, Flag Pixel shows you a comparison view: green pixels indicate where your guess matches the target flag, while black pixels show where they differ. Keep guessing based on these visual clues until you identify the correct country.
The game tracks your guess history and statistics (in browser), including your guess count and success rate.
Two Game Modes
Daily Challenge
Everyone around the world gets the same flags each day. The flags change at midnight in your local time zone, creating a daily shared experience. Your progress is saved so you can return to finish your games anytime before the next flags appear.
Daily mode has two difficulty levels. Standard Mode features the most recognizable flags from major countries, while Hard Mode includes more challenging flags from countries with larger populations. You can complete both levels each day for an extra challenge.
Free Play
Practice mode with unlimited random flags from all 195 countries. Each game gives you a new random selection with no limits or waiting.
Use the country filters to customize your practice by difficulty level (Standard Mode, Hard Mode, or Small States), population range, geographic region, or subregion.
The Learning Tool
The Learning Tool helps you study flags strategically by filtering them based on color and position. Select from the 10 standardized colors (red, blue, green, black, purple, yellow, white, brown, orange, and light blue) and choose specific positions on a 3×3 grid. The tool shows you which flags match your criteria, along with the percentage of each flag that contains your selected colors.
This feature helps you develop smart guessing strategies. For example, if you want to check whether the target flag has black in the top third, you can search for flags like Germany to use as strategic guesses that reveal information even if they're unlikely to be the answer.
